It can also correct presbyopia, which is an age-related condition that affects a person’s ability to focus on nearby objects. Lasik eye surgery works by reshaping the cornea. The cornea is the transparent part of the eye that refracts light. Lasik eye surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure. Patients will be asked to avoid reading, using the computer, watching television or performing any other activity that may strain their eyes for at least 48 hours after their operation. Most people will be able to return to work within two or three days. This procedure is not for everyone. A doctor will have to perform a thorough examination in order to determine whether this surgery is right for a particular patient.
