Enhancements
Although every effort is made to insure a great result from the initial
Lasik procedure, a touch-up surgery (called an enhancement) may be needed.
Not everyone needs an enhancement. Certain risk factors that exist prior
to surgery may make a person more likely to need an enhancement.
These risk factors include:
Higher prescriptions
Age
Myopes vs. Hyperops
The presence or absence of monovision
Your doctor will discuss your likelihood of needing an enhancement during
the months following your procedure.
All enhancements performed within one year of a patient's initial surgery
are billed at $150 per eye. This fee is to cover the cost of the laser.
All other costs associated with the enhancement are absorbed by Siems
Advanced Lasik. These fees include all labor and facility fees associated
with a surgery.
Although some centers may advertise free enhancements, often the patient
is charged full price if their vision is greater than 20/40. The majority
of patients at Siems Advanced Lasik see better than 20/40 already. Dr.
Siems and his medical staff feel it is unfair to charge full price for
and enhancement to someone who needs such a minor correction. By charging
the same price for all enhancements during the first year we insure all
patients are able to receive the same quality of care no matter what their
individual prescription may be.
