| Since intraocular lenses were first introduced in 1949
over 21 million have been surgically implanted. Traditional artificial
lenses were monofocal and although distance vision was good, many
patients still needed to use reading glasses to see near objects.
The good for cataract patients today is that intraocular lens technology
has taken a giant leap forward. No longer is the object of cataract
surgery simply to restore your distance vision with a monofocal Intra
Ocular Lens (IOL). |
