What is a Cataract?
Located in the eye behind the iris (or the colored part of your eye) is
the lens. A cataract is a clouding of the natural lens. Images of light
are reflected through the lens to the back of the eye onto the retina. This
lens works in the same manner as a camera lens. the light is filtered
through the lens and onto the film (equivalent to the retina).
Eye injures, certain diseases and even some medication can cause the clouding,
although in over 90% of cases, clouding is caused by the aging process.
Symptoms of developing cataracts include blurred vision; double vision;
glares and halos; less vivid perception of colors; and frequent changes
in eye-glass prescriptions.
